Why would anyone want to epoxy their floors?

Your floor will have a glossy showroom finish, be easy to clean and add value to your home.

 

What is the system made up of?

Solvent free epoxies, acrylic flakes and UV protective non-yellowing finish coats.

 

How thick is the product?

No more than 1.5mm thick. A typical application equals four coats of good quality paint.

 

What are the advantages to using this system?

Long-lasting, decorative, low maintenance, will not harbor bacteria, antistatic, seamless, wont crack, chip or peel, competitive in price to tiles, linoleum and vinyl.

 

Is it a safety floor/non-slip?

Yes, in cases where the surface is required to have a non-slip surface, additives are included to Australian Standard readings for this purpose. Our Stone-Grip system is a anti-slip system and has been successfully applied internally and externally.

 

How strong is the system?

This flooring system is very strong. Trucks, four wheel drives, fork lifts, etc. run over the surfaces with ease and do no damage at all.

 

Is it easy to clean?

Very! Mild detergents and warm water is usually enough to clean this system.

 

How long does it take to apply the total system?

Depending on the preparation time, approximately 3-4 days. The floor must be free of foot traffic for 24 hours after the final coat and free of vehicular traffic for 5-7 days, depending on weather conditions.

 

Why does it take so long to apply?

This is a total epoxy system which requires time to cure under normal weather conditions.

 

How much does the system cost?

This will depend on the condition of the floor before coating. We offer an obligation-free inspection and quote service.

 

Where would I use it domestically?

Externally – patios, garages, driveways, pathways, around swimming pools, etc. Internally – rumpus rooms, bathrooms, toilets, laundries, kitchens. Anywhere in the house where an easy-to-clean, hardwearing and attractive finish is required.

 

What if I have paint, epoxy, oil or other contaminants on the floor to be coated?

No problem, part of our unique system involves the diamond grinding of the floor to remove all contaminants and at the same time open up the pores of the concrete to aid in the binding process of the epoxy to the substrate.

 

How much notice do you need before you can start?

Our work load varies, but usually 1-3 weeks.

What are the benefits of treating an industrial/commercial floor?

– CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Spillages including acids and solvents are easily cleaned up.

– HYGIENE

Food production and food preparations areas. Build up of foods and fats are easier and faster to clean with an epoxy floor system. Cleaning agents which are expensive can be reduced to deliver savings.

– ANTI/SLIP APPLICATIONS

Anti-slip additives can be added to the epoxy system to create a safe environment for staff. These systems are to an approved rating of regulatory authorities.

 

Who would use these products and systems?

Can the floor be colour coded to identify specialised work areas and improve workplace health and safety?

Yes. Floortec can work with you to design a workable, attractive and functional system to improve safety, production & appearance. We effectively, linemark the floor to indicate safe zones, high traffic areas, walk ways, parking zones etc.

 

Will forklifts and other machinery damage epoxy floor?

The epoxy floor systems are extremely hard and durable and difficult to damage.

 

How much time does it take to apply coatings?

Each system is individual and as epoxies require different curing times. We will work with you to develop a system that will have the least amount of down time for your business. Floortec is also able to time projects outside of normal working time if required.

 

What are the costs?

Depending on the system designed to meet your requirements the cost will vary. Epoxy flooring systems are generally more cost effective and harder wearing than any other  looring system. Our specialised applicators will provide free inspection and quotes.
